Toronto-based Manzil Investment Advisors has expanded into the U.S. with a new digital platform offering Shariah-compliant investment portfolios. Targeting the country’s growing Muslim population, the fintech says many potential investors are excluded from traditional public markets.
“Only a third of S&P 500 stocks are compliant with our beliefs,” says CEO Dr. Mohamad Sawwaf. Powered by U.S. brokerage infrastructure firm Alpaca, Manzil’s platform screens investments using AAOIFI standards and U.S.-based ethical criteria. The launch marks a major step in Manzil’s mission to democratize halal investing across North America.
