E3 Lithium

Critical Minerals Vital for Energy Independence, Says Industry Leader

October 2, 2024 by Newsdesk

Chris Doornbos, CEO of E3 Lithium, addressed attendees at Energy Disruptors: UNITE 2024 in Calgary, emphasizing the importance of critical minerals and energy independence in the shift toward electrification. Doornbos highlighted that Western countries must secure stable supplies of critical minerals like lithium to ensure energy security.

He pointed out the dominance of China in battery and EV production, with 80% of the world’s batteries coming from China. Doornbos also questioned the impact of protectionism and inflation on EV adoption, urging for collaboration and strategic thinking to navigate the complexities of an electrified future.

E3 Lithium Achieves Major Milestone in Battery-Grade Lithium Production

September 26, 2024 by Newsdesk

Calgary-based E3 Lithium has successfully commissioned its demonstration-scale carbonate conversion reactors, marking a major step toward establishing a reliable lithium production facility in Alberta. These reactors, designed to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate, mirror commercial systems on a smaller scale. The company confirmed that the reactors passed rigorous tests, consistently meeting necessary conditions.

E3 Lithium plans to integrate these reactors into its demonstration facility to further validate operational parameters. CEO Chris Doornbos emphasized that this achievement strengthens E3’s ability to supply North America’s growing demand for battery-grade lithium. Doornbos will present at the Energy Disruptors: UNITE 2024 conference.

Canada’s E3 Deepens Collaboration with Pure Lithium as Pair Advance Battery Tech

August 21, 2024 by Newsdesk

Calgary’s E3 Lithium is partnering with Pure Lithium, a Boston-based vertically integrated lithium metal battery technology company, to advance the design of a lithium metal anode and battery pilot plant in Alberta. Under a joint development agreement, the two firms will complete a preliminary economic assessment of a commercial lithium metal battery facility.

E3 announced earlier that a lithium metal battery had been made by Pure Lithium from E3 lithium concentrate. At that time, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to complete further testing and validation work. The firms have been collaborating to produce lithium metal cells that have higher energy density than today’s lithium-ion batteries and do not contain nickel, cobalt, or graphite.
