Canadian law firm Prelia’s survey of 121 organizations reveals a gap between AI adoption and governance. Seventy-six percent reported approved AI use or pilots, but only 33% had written AI policies. Among organizations with fewer than 50 employees, policy adoption fell to 9%. Thirty percent estimated that AI saves each employee using it at least four hours weekly. Meanwhile, 41% said staff share confidential or potentially sensitive information with AI tools; nearly half of that group reported no clear sharing rules. The findings suggest productivity gains are arriving faster than the policies and training businesses need to manage AI use.
