AI Use Climbs, But So Do Canadian Concerns

July 15, 2025 by Newsdesk

The 2025 Canadian Internet Trends Report reveals growing concern over misinformation, AI-generated deepfakes, and online safety, even as generative AI use rises. Published by CIRA, the survey found one-third of Canadians used AI tools this year, while 74% worry about fake content.

Trust in X (formerly Twitter) continues to erode, and 59% see deepfakes as a threat to elections. Meanwhile, 64% prefer to shop from Canadian online retailers, citing economic loyalty. One in five Canadians has experienced a cyberattack. The report paints a picture of digital habits shaped by global tensions, AI acceleration, and declining trust in online platforms.
