Canadian Startup Fawn Innovates with AI-Powered Toys for Kids

Canadian entrepreneurs recently launched Fawn, a startup creating AI-powered robotic toys, beginning with a baby deer named Fawn. These toys aim to assist children in emotional processing and skill development. Fawn, leveraging generative AI, has secured six-figure funding, including from Thinkific’s CFO, and is preparing for a $3.5 million seed round.

Controlled via an app, Fawn is among the emerging smart toys, raising safety and privacy concerns. The Privacy Commissioner of Canada highlights the risks smart toys pose to children, especially regarding data collection. The office is also investigating AI platforms like ChatGPT, emphasizing the need for child-focused safety measures.
