Canadian Gamers Affirm the Positive Impact of Video Gameplay on Mental Health

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada, in collaboration with global counterparts, unveiled the inaugural Power of Play report today.

Based on extensive research and a survey encompassing 12 countries, the report underscores the manifold positive impacts of video gameplay.

Canadians, accounting for 12,847 respondents, cited enjoyment as the primary motivation (74%). Notably, 29% reported playing to manage mental health, surpassing the global average of 24%. Additionally, 76% acknowledged that gaming alleviated stress.

The report affirms that video games foster community and meaningful connections, with 70% believing games facilitate new friendships.
