Government of Canada Commits $160 Million to Expand Solar Power in Alberta

July 13, 2023 by Newsdesk

Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Jonathan Wilkinson, has announced federal investments worth $160 million for nine solar power projects in Alberta.

These initiatives are set to create over 1,500 jobs and add 163 megawatts of clean solar energy with battery storage capacity.

The projects, located in Alberta, will contribute to economic growth, provide clean energy to communities, and reduce emissions equivalent to removing 47,000 gas vehicles annually.

By partnering with Indigenous communities and industries, the government aims to unlock the economic potential of clean technologies and progress towards a prosperous net-zero future.
