Canada’s technology sector is experiencing a growing demand for AI talent, reflecting the fierce competition for skilled workers in the broader artificial intelligence landscape. According to The Logic‘s latest Talent Quarterly report, the increasing need for AI workers in Canada mirrors the hiring frenzy in the U.S., where companies like Tesla, Google, Meta, and OpenAI are racing to attract top talent.
Though the race for AI professionals is less intense in Canada, it is gaining momentum. Indeed reports that 2.4% of Canadian job postings at the end of March 2024 included AI references, up from 1.9% a year earlier. Companies are also finding difficulty in hiring due to Canada’s traditional focus on academic AI research, leaving a shortage of workers with practical experience.
