Shopify Announces Board Changes Ahead of Annual Meeting

May 16, 2024 by Newsdesk

Bret Taylor is set to leave Shopify’s board, with Uber CFO Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah and Rostra CEO Lulu Cheng Meservey nominated as new independent directors. If elected at Shopify’s June annual general meeting, they will join the board, replacing Taylor, who joined last June. Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce and ex-chair of Twitter, is now chair of OpenAI and has launched AI startup Sierra.

Meservey, known for her role at Activision Blizzard, advocates direct communication via social media. Advisory firms Institutional Shareholder Services and Glass Lewis are recommending shareholders vote “no” on Shopify’s executive compensation plan.
