1Password Introduces Location-Based Access for Logins

Toronto’s 1Password has introduced a new feature that allows users to associate passwords with specific physical locations. The Nearby section on the app’s home tab will now display relevant logins based on a user’s proximity to saved locations. Users can add locations while on-site or via a map view.

The feature helps reduce clutter by prioritizing frequently used credentials, such as health cards at clinics or travel documents at airports. AgileBits assures that location data is stored locally and never shared. Users can disable the feature at any time for added security.

1Password Acquires Trelica to Advance SaaS Security

Toronto-based 1Password has acquired Trelica, a leader in SaaS access management, to enhance its Extended Access Management (XAM) platform. The acquisition boosts 1Password’s ability to tackle Shadow IT by identifying unmanaged apps and automating access governance.

This move advances 1Password’s mission to secure workplaces without hindering productivity. CEO Jeff Shiner highlighted Trelica’s alignment with Zero Trust principles, enabling organizations to optimize SaaS spend and meet compliance standards like SOC 2. The acquisition positions 1Password as a leader in emerging XAM solutions.

Stripe to Power Over 1 Million 1Password Subscriptions

Stripe announced its partnership with 1Password to manage over a million subscriptions using Stripe Billing and Radar. Toronto-based 1Password, trusted by 150,000 businesses, offers identity security solutions and generates two-thirds of its revenue from business clients.

Stripe Billing supports 1Password’s global expansion by handling complex pricing and billing cycles, while Stripe Radar reduces fraud and false declines. The collaboration also leverages network tokenization to boost revenue and reduce churn. Stripe, which uses 1Password as its enterprise password manager, highlighted the shared focus on security and efficiency.

Placing 50th among the diverse pool of 100 firms, 1Password holds a USD 6.5 billion valuation.

Established in 2005, it has now shifted focus towards a “passwordless future” with secure passkeys, enhancing user authentication. Notably, 1Password’s absence from AI applications differentiates it from the majority on the list.
