Cerebras Systems plans to double its staff in Toronto, aiming to meet global AI compute needs. Currently, the Silicon Valley chipmaker employs 100 of its 411 workers in Canada’s largest city. The company is considering private data centres or government compute projects in countries like Azerbaijan, Iceland, India, and others.
Founded in 2016, Cerebras manufactures AI supercomputers, essential for training and running machine-learning models. CEO Andrew Feldman claims their unique processor outperforms Nvidia’s by integrating more AI cores and memory on a single wafer. With AI demand surging, Cerebras competes for a slice of the expanding market revenue.
