Calgary’s E2E Energy Solutions and Rainbow Lake municipality have joined forces to make Rainbow Lake the first Canadian town powered entirely by geothermal renewable energy by 2028.
E2E’s innovative Enhanced Geothermal Reservoir Recovery System (EGRRS) will upgrade saline aquifers’ temperature, enabling large-scale geothermal development where traditional methods fall short. The project encompasses three phases, including the EGRRS pilot, surface geothermal facility construction, and community infrastructure design.
This initiative will create jobs, boost the local economy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. DeneTha’ First Nation supports the project, recognizing its potential for economic growth and sustainability.
