Blue J Joins Legora’s Workspace

Toronto-based Blue J is bringing its AI tax research into Legora, allowing eligible customers to investigate tax questions without leaving their legal workspace. Answers will include inline citations linking to underlying sources.

Built using the Model Context Protocol, the integration keeps research processing on Blue J’s infrastructure. Customers must subscribe to both platforms, use their own accounts, and hold the necessary permissions to access source material.

Early access will begin with selected joint customers, with general availability planned for November. The partnership expands Legora’s integration ecosystem while giving Canadian-developed specialist tax technology another distribution channel within the legal AI market.

Legora Opens Toronto Office After Walter Deal

Legal AI company Legora has opened its first Canadian office in Toronto, expanding its North American presence following its acquisition of Vancouver-based startup Walter. The move strengthens Legora’s foothold in Canada, where it already serves major law firms including McMillan and Stewart McKelvey.

Executives said the expansion will support closer collaboration with legal teams and accelerate adoption of AI across workflows such as research, drafting, and review. The Toronto office builds on Walter’s local relationships and talent base, positioning Legora to scale its platform in a market increasingly focused on enterprise-wide AI deployment.

Legora Buys Canada’s Walter in AI Push

Vancouver legal technology startup Walter has been acquired by European platform Legora in a cross-border transaction reflecting consolidation in legal artificial intelligence. Founded by Ryan Wilson with Jon Conlin and Karl Campbell, Walter built workflow-embedded AI to reduce routine legal tasks.

Collaborations with Fasken and McCarthy Tétrault refined its tools in live environments. Wilson cited early support from Constantinos Ragas and Matthew Peters. Stockholm-headquartered Legora is integrating Walter engineers to build end-to-end legal agents.
