German athletic brand Adidas is teaming up with Calgary-based startup Oco to release 400,000 pairs of TERREX trail running shoes. The shoes will feature a design using Oco’s carbon-captured ink, blending screen printing ink with captured carbon material.
This innovative ink mixture offers a screen-printed decal that is resilient to natural elements. Oco’s mission is to educate consumers about carbon utilization and create carbon-captured products. The ink’s enhanced material properties result in products with higher tensile strength and increased recyclability.
Oco plans to expand its carbon-captured product offerings and develop modular carbon capture and utilization reactors for on-site manufacturing.
