Canada is aiming to become a global semiconductor powerhouse with a $120 million investment in a $220 million project led by CMC Microsystems. The funding will bolster Canada’s security, economy, and tech progress, according to a statement from the government. Through the Strategic Innovation Fund, the investment will support the FABrIC network, facilitating design, manufacturing, and commercialization of semiconductors.
Over the next five years, FABrIC is expected to generate 300 highly skilled jobs. The initiative is poised to strengthen Canada’s semiconductor industry, ensuring economic security and promoting sustainability, while fostering innovation and competitive edge in the global market.
