Simple Ventures, a venture studio co-founded by CEO Rachel Zimmer and Wealthsimple’s Michael Katchen, has launched in Toronto with a clear mission: to foster innovation within Canada. Targeting market gaps, Simple Ventures partners with founders and investors to introduce new products.
Backed by prominent Canadian entrepreneurs like Shopify’s Harley Finkelstein and Ada’s Mike Murchison, the studio is a response to Canada’s declining entrepreneurial numbers. Zimmer highlights the challenge of Canada’s market, often overlooked by global companies.
Simple Ventures’ model involves identifying products, testing market viability, and then nurturing startups, a unique approach in the Canadian landscape. The studio aims to build and launch 10 companies, including Alma Care, a postnatal retreat.
