New Report Charts Rapid Rise of BC Construction Clean Tech

A new Scius Advisory report shows British Columbia’s construction clean tech sector has expanded rapidly, identifying 212 active firms, an 85 percent increase since 2021. The study links the rise to strong policy drivers, with buildings producing 12 percent of operational emissions and construction contributing 1.6 percent.

Growth has centred on modular construction, now the province’s largest category, generating $1.3 billion in revenue and supporting 23,000 jobs. Fenestration firms and circular construction companies also posted notable gains. Despite momentum, Scius notes gaps in industrial and refurbishment markets. The province’s clean building leadership is accelerating.

Canada’s Data Sovereignty Push Spurs Okta Expansion

Okta has announced a new Canada-based data cell as national debate over data sovereignty intensifies. The full-service cell, built on Okta’s partitioned architecture, is designed to keep identity data within Canada and meet domestic privacy expectations.

The launch comes as Ottawa commits nearly $1 billion toward a sovereign cloud to ensure data remains free from foreign influence. Officials warn that U.S. laws such as the CLOUD Act and FISA may still affect information stored by foreign providers. CO280 Pilot Proves 95% Capture at U.S. Pulp Mill

CO280 Solutions has completed a major field pilot demonstrating the effectiveness of liquid amine technology to capture biogenic carbon dioxide from a U.S. Gulf Coast pulp and paper mill. Working with SLB Capturi, the Vancouver firm installed a Mobile Test Unit that ran more than 4,000 hours and consistently captured 95 percent of emissions.

Executives say the outcome removes technical barriers to commercial-scale deployment across an industry generating over 100 million tonnes of biogenic CO2 annually. CO280 is now advancing more than ten projects as corporate buyers, including JPMorganChase and Microsoft, commit long-term purchases.

Google Launches Gemini 3, Its Most Advanced AI Yet

Google officially launched Gemini 3 today, unveiling what the company calls its most intelligent AI model to date. The new system delivers advanced multimodal reasoning across text, images, video, audio, and code, and posts leading benchmark scores including 1501 Elo on LMArena and 91.9 percent on GPQA Diamond.

Gemini 3 debuts across multiple Google products, including Search’s AI Mode, the Gemini app, AI Studio, Vertex AI, and the new agent-first developer platform, Google Antigravity.
