CO280 Pilot Proves 95% Capture at U.S. Pulp Mill

November 20, 2025 by Newsdesk

CO280 Solutions has completed a major field pilot demonstrating the effectiveness of liquid amine technology to capture biogenic carbon dioxide from a U.S. Gulf Coast pulp and paper mill. Working with SLB Capturi, the Vancouver firm installed a Mobile Test Unit that ran more than 4,000 hours and consistently captured 95 percent of emissions.

Executives say the outcome removes technical barriers to commercial-scale deployment across an industry generating over 100 million tonnes of biogenic CO2 annually. CO280 is now advancing more than ten projects as corporate buyers, including JPMorganChase and Microsoft, commit long-term purchases.

CO280 Lands Major CDR Deal with JPMorgan

May 20, 2025 by Newsdesk

Vancouver’s CO280 has signed a 13-year carbon removal agreement with JPMorganChase, under which the bank will purchase 450,000 metric tons of CO₂ at under $200 per ton—one of the lowest prices for engineered carbon removal to date. The project captures biogenic emissions from a U.S. Gulf Coast pulp mill retrofitted with SLB Capturi’s technology.

This follows CO280’s major deal with Microsoft last month. CO280’s model, focused on repurposing industrial infrastructure, positions it as a leader in cost-effective, scalable CDR solutions. JPMorgan’s early backing signals rising corporate interest in verifiable, high-quality carbon removal.

Vancouver’s CO280 Strikes Landmark CDR Deal with Microsoft

April 11, 2025 by Newsdesk

Vancouver-based CO280 has announced a landmark agreement with Microsoft for one of the largest engineered carbon dioxide removal (CDR) purchases to date. Under the deal, Microsoft will buy 3.685 million tonnes of CDR over 12 years from a U.S. pulp and paper mill project. CO280 will retrofit the mill to capture biogenic CO2 emissions for permanent geological storage using SLB Capturi technology.

CEO Jonathan Rhone called the deal a milestone for CO280 and the broader CDR market. The company, backed by B.C.’s Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy, is currently developing over 10 projects across North America.
