ChatFeatured Raises for AI Search

Toronto-based ChatFeatured has raised US$2 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed round to build an autonomous AI search agent for marketing teams. The financing was led by Storytime Capital, with participation from Garage Capital and BY Venture Partners.

Founded in January 2026 by Farris Nasr and Nithiiyan Skhanthan, ChatFeatured helps companies improve visibility inside AI-generated answers by analyzing cited sources, identifying competitor gaps, creating content strategies, publishing content, and tracking lift across AI search platforms. The company says it already serves customers in five countries and is growing more than 40 percent month over month while expanding team and product development.

Rogers Scores With World Cup Traffic

Rogers says its 5G+ network carried 510 terabytes of wireless data as Canada hosted soccer’s biggest event, equal to uploading 102 million photos. The company invested $27 million in Toronto and Vancouver network upgrades ahead of 13 World Cup matches, covering stadiums, watch parties, fan zones, hotels, airports, transit hubs, and other high-traffic areas.

In Toronto, the work included an enhanced in-stadium wireless system equivalent to adding 16 downtown cell towers, additional 5G+ spectrum, and temporary Cells on Wheels and Cells on Light Facilities. Rogers says the upgrades delivered faster speeds, lower latency, more capacity, and lasting local benefits nationwide.

TouchBistro Finds Constellation Exit

Toronto restaurant technology company TouchBistro has been acquired by Harris Computer, an Ottawa-based subsidiary of Constellation Software. Harris quietly announced the deal July 7, while BetaKit reported the company had previously raised hundreds of millions in venture capital and debt to build point-of-sale and restaurant management software.

Terms were not disclosed, but The Globe and Mail reported Harris paid $100 million, far below prior investor expectations. Founded in 2011, TouchBistro grew to more than 25,000 venues before facing COVID-19 disruption, slower growth, tougher financing conditions, competition from Toast, and a broader reset for unprofitable venture-backed software companies across Canada now.

Meta Lands in Alberta

Meta is building its first Canadian data centre in Sturgeon County, Alberta, a one-gigawatt facility backed by more than $13 billion in investment. The project will be powered by Pembina Pipeline’s Greenlight Electricity Centre, a natural-gas power plant that recently reached a positive final investment decision.

Meta says the site will support its AI ambitions while creating thousands of construction jobs and long-term operating roles. For Alberta, the announcement validates its pitch as a destination for hyperscale AI infrastructure, combining available land, industrial expertise, gas-fired power, and a government strategy aimed at attracting major large-scale data centre investment projects ahead.

Floqer Raises $2M for GTM AI

Halifax-based Floqer has raised $2 million in pre-seed funding to build an autonomous customer knowledge base for go-to-market teams. The round includes Perplexity’s F7 Fund, N49P, Tidal Venture Partners, and Perplexity co-founder Denis Yarats.

Founded in October 2024 by Shivam Mahajan and Zaaheda Islam, Floqer says it is already cash-flow positive, above seven figures in annual recurring revenue, and serving more than 1,000 customers, including Perplexity, Wise, and AngelList. Its platform unifies public signals, CRM data, Slack, sales calls, and 100-plus third-party sources to help sales teams enrich leads, identify buying signals faster, and maintain accurate customer records at scale.

Wafr Targets AI Cooling Crunch

Vancouver-based Wafr Technologies says it has raised $100 million toward a $300 million target to commercialize cooling for AI data centres and build a Canadian AI research lab. Wafr is focused on facility-level, closed-loop cooling infrastructure for high-density computing environments, positioning its platform as complementary to direct-to-chip and rack-level systems.

The company says typical data centres can use up to 10 million litres of water per megawatt annually, while cooling represents 30 to 45 percent of electricity load. Wafr claims its technology can cut water consumption by up to 95 percent and cooling power use by up to 80 percent.

NanoTess Rides Into Calgary Stampede

Calgary biotechnology startup NanoTess is bringing its made-in-Calgary wound care product to the Calgary Stampede through the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine team. NanoSALV Catalytic, powered by NanoTess’ proprietary CTM technology, will support care for rodeo athletes dealing with burns, abrasions, blisters, puncture wounds, lacerations, sutured injuries, and surgical incisions.

The product is used across Canada by physicians, surgeons, paramedics, and patients to support healing of acute, traumatic, chronic, and complex wounds. NanoTess says NanoSALV Catalytic is authorized for sale by Health Canada and covered through several Alberta public health benefits programs for patients.

Dominion Dynamics Raises USD $100M

Ottawa-based Dominion Dynamics has raised US$100 million to build defence technology for harsh northern environments and scale its workforce. The Series A round was led by Georgian, with backing from OMERS, BDC, RBC, Deloitte Ventures Canada, BCI, Bessemer, Garage Capital, Golden Ventures and others.

Founded in 2025 by CEO Eliot Pence, Dominion is developing an autonomy stack for the Arctic. Its AuraNet software was deployed this year with the Canadian Armed Forces during Operation Nanook-Nunalivut, helping Rangers combine communications and data into a single operating picture. The company plans to grow from 50 employees to 100 by year-end 2026 further.

Farpoint Builds AI for Real Work

Vancouver-based Farpoint Technologies is positioning itself as an applied AI firm for organizations where consumer tools are not enough. Led by Nicholas Ning, the company builds custom AI systems for regulated, secure, and data-sensitive sectors including government, finance, energy, and defence.

Farpoint’s platforms include Fabric, a sovereign AI coding system designed to run inside customer security boundaries, and Lattice, a measurement layer that benchmarks deployments against existing workflows. Ning argues AI value comes from production systems, not strategy decks, and that Canada’s AI sovereignty will depend on domestic procurement, growth capital, customer trust, and companies choosing to scale at home.

Deep Sky Certifies DAC Credits

Montreal-based Deep Sky has captured and permanently removed carbon dioxide from the atmosphere at its Alpha facility in Innisfail, Alberta, marking what it says are North America’s first certified direct air capture carbon removal credits. The credits were independently reviewed and registered by Isometric and will be delivered to Microsoft and Royal Bank of Canada under an agreement running through 2034.

Deep Sky, a tech-agnostic carbon removal developer, began the Alberta facility in 2024 and is testing multiple DAC technologies before scaling commercial operations. CEO Alex Petre called the milestone a proof point for building and delivering measurable carbon removal.
