Rogers Launches Canada’s First Storm-Ready WiFi

Rogers has unveiled Storm-Ready WiFi, a Canadian-first home internet backup solution. This innovative device integrates advanced Rogers technology with automatic cellular network switching during power or network outages.

The system includes a rechargeable battery offering up to four hours of connectivity and doubles as a WiFi extender for enhanced everyday coverage. Customers can monitor status via the Rogers Xfinity app. “Reliable connectivity is essential,” said Tony Staffieri, Rogers CEO. Taylor Swift Fans Break Canadian Data Record

Taylor Swift’s final Eras Tour concert in Vancouver shattered Canada’s mobile data usage record. Fans on Rogers 5G consumed over 11 terabytes (TB) of data during her BC Place performance, surpassing the 7.4 TB record set earlier in Toronto.

Rogers invested $10 million to enhance BC Place’s 5G network, boosting capacity 38 times with infrastructure upgrades. Over three Vancouver shows, attendees used a staggering 32 TB of data, equivalent to uploading 895,000 photos. The network redesign involved 10,000 hours of planning and 40 technicians. Temporary Cell on Wheels ensured robust connectivity for crowds outside.

Rogers Upgrades Cell Network for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Toronto

Rogers just spent $8 million to boost its 5G network at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, getting ready for Taylor Swift’s six epic Eras Tour concerts in November. Over the summer, the telecom giant worked 16,000 hours to ensure fans stay connected during the shows, where data use is expected to skyrocket.

At previous shows, fans used more than 5.5 terabytes of data—enough to stream all of Swift’s music 4,500 times. With ticket sales projected at US$13 million per night, Toronto’s tourism industry is also set to benefit from the singer’s visit.

BCE to Sell MLSE Stake to Rogers for $4.7 Billion

BCE Inc. announced today it will sell its stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) to Rogers Communications for CA$4.7 billion. The deal is expected to close by mid-2025, pending necessary approvals. BCE plans to use the proceeds to reduce debt and focus on its transformation into a tech company.

As part of the agreement, Bell Media’s TSN network has secured long-term broadcasting rights for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors for the next 20 years. BCE will remain the telecom sponsor for the Raptors, Argonauts, and Toronto FC.

SenseNet and Rogers Partner to Expand Wildfire Detection Across Canada
