Trusty Raises $1M to Reinvent Legacy Planning

Toronto-based startup Trusty has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding to modernize how families manage personal legacies. Founded by Uberflip co-founder Randy Frisch, Trusty uses AI to help users catalog heirlooms, clarify intent, and reduce estate conflict—going beyond traditional wills. The round was co-led by Relay Ventures and Graphite Ventures, with support from Mistral and angels.

Trusty’s mobile app lets users log assets, attach video messages, and simplify legal docs via its AI assistant. Now piloting with wealth teams, including Purpose Unlimited, Trusty aims to partner with banks and estate pros across North America.

Foresight Canada Targets Housing Crisis with Innovation

As Canada grapples with a national housing crisis, Foresight Canada is working to scale innovations that address system-level inefficiencies. Through the CMHC Housing Supply Challenge, the nonprofit identified 18 promising solutions, including Toronto-based Promise Robotics and BuildingIN.

These ventures offer tech-driven approaches to accelerate sustainable housing development. Foresight’s Noah Leduc emphasizes the need for bold, coordinated action and positions Foresight as a bridge between innovators, policy, and the construction sector. Canada must build millions of homes by 2030, yet remains behind pace. Foresight’s model blends clean technology with planning reform to help close the country’s housing gap.

AI Use Climbs, But So Do Canadian Concerns

The 2025 Canadian Internet Trends Report reveals growing concern over misinformation, AI-generated deepfakes, and online safety, even as generative AI use rises. Published by CIRA, the survey found one-third of Canadians used AI tools this year, while 74% worry about fake content.

Trust in X (formerly Twitter) continues to erode, and 59% see deepfakes as a threat to elections. Meanwhile, 64% prefer to shop from Canadian online retailers, citing economic loyalty. One in five Canadians has experienced a cyberattack. The report paints a picture of digital habits shaped by global tensions, AI acceleration, and declining trust in online platforms.

Vancouver-based FORM has launched the Smart Swim 2 PRO, the world’s first smart swim goggles featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 3 lenses. Designed for elite training and competition, the PRO builds on the Smart Swim 2’s real-time metrics and virtual coaching, adding enhanced durability and visual clarity.

The custom lens stack blocks 98% of UV rays and boasts a UPF rating of 50+. FORM also introduces a long-lasting anti-fog solution, replacing traditional coatings. Manzil Launches U.S. Platform for Muslim Investors

Moonvalley Goes Big on Legal AI Video

Toronto’s Asepha Raises $4M for AI Pharmacy Tech

Co-founded by pharmacist Eunice Wu, Asepha automates pharmacy tasks like processing handwritten prescriptions and administrative work using AI agents. The startup plans to use the capital to grow its international presence and open a New York office. Asepha has already secured partnerships with multiple Fortune 50 companies, positioning itself as a leader in the growing field of pharmacy automation.

Two Vancouver Startups Win Big at Startupfest
