Google.org is contributing $3.5 million to Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst to expand cybersecurity clinics across Canada. The Cyber Clinics Canada program will train postsecondary students and new cybersecurity professionals to provide free consulting to public and community organizations under expert supervision. Services include risk assessments, phishing awareness, incident response planning, and privacy compliance support. Participants will not handle active cyberattacks.
The initiative builds on Catalyst’s existing clinic and will help institutions establish their own programs. It addresses two challenges simultaneously: giving emerging cybersecurity workers practical experience while helping organizations that may lack the resources to obtain professional advice and strengthen defences.
